Introducing the "Brittany" our working Sea Lab.
She is fitted with twin 200 hp engines, which allows us to visit several of our farms sites in the same day.
Donor colonies can either come from our own brood stock or
we carefully select colonies from the wild for fragmentation.
A piece of this size can easily give us 40 - 60 fragments for grow out.

One team on the Sea Lab is capable of fragmenting and planting 1500 new corals in one day. Here you see the crew gluing the "frags" to our specially made bases before handing them off to the divers for placement on the racks.
|
 |
|
|
Once the "frags" are ready for placement they are carefully handed to the waiting diver. Each piece is carefully placed on the rack and secured into position for optimal growth and protection from rough weather.

 |
Once the pieces have been placed they require constant monitoring and occasional shifting depending on water temperatures and conditions.

Some of our farm sites are close to resorts. When this is the case, we are able to dedicate a few racks for eco-tourism. We place signs on the racks that allow visiting divers to view the species of coral we have growing and tell when they were planted.
This part of our program is starting to create a very positive relationship with those resort owners that realize the value in coral farming for both tourism and the environment.

These little guys are new arrivals on our racks.
They should be ready for market in about 4 - 6 months.
